These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of garagecalculator.com (the “Site”), operated by Garage Calculator (“we,” “us” or “our”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.

The Short Version

  • Our calculators give planning estimates, not quotes. Real prices in your area can be higher or lower.
  • Nothing on this site is professional, engineering, legal, tax or financial advice.
  • Always get written quotes from licensed contractors and check permits and codes with your local building department before you build or borrow.
  • The Site is free to use and provided “as is.”

1. Estimates Are for Planning Only

Our calculators and cost guides use national and regional averages, published price data and our own research to produce estimates. They are meant to help you plan and budget, not to replace a quote. Actual costs depend on your location, site conditions, materials, labor availability, permits, design choices and market conditions, and may differ significantly from our estimates. Prices change over time, and we can’t guarantee that any figure on the Site is current, complete or accurate for your project.

Loan and payment calculators show illustrative results based on the rates and terms you enter or on published averages. They are not loan offers, and your actual rate, fees and payments will be set by your lender.

2. Not Professional Advice

The content on the Site, including calculators, articles, tips and comparisons, is for general information only. It is not engineering, architectural, construction, legal, tax, insurance or financial advice, and it does not create a professional relationship between you and us. Building codes, zoning rules and permit requirements vary by location. Before you build, renovate, buy plans or borrow money, consult qualified, licensed professionals and your local building department.

3. Safety

Construction and repair work, including electrical work, structural work and garage door springs and cables, can be dangerous. Any DIY tips on the Site are general guidance only. You are responsible for your own safety, for following manufacturer instructions and local codes, and for deciding when to hire a professional.

4. Third-Party Links, Products and Services

The Site links to and features third-party websites, products and services, including plan sellers, contractors, lenders and retailers. Some of these are affiliate links or paid placements, as explained in our Affiliate and Advertising Disclosure. We don’t control these third parties and aren’t responsible for their content, products, services, prices, availability or privacy practices. Any purchase or agreement you make with a third party is solely between you and that party. Contractor listings shown on the Site are provided by third-party services, and we don’t endorse, license or guarantee any contractor.

5. Templates and Downloadable Tools

Any templates, forms or sample documents on the Site, such as invoices or checklists, are provided as general examples. They have not been reviewed for your situation or your state’s laws and are not a substitute for a contract prepared by a lawyer.

6. Using the Site

You may use the Site for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:

  • Copy, republish, sell or frame our content or calculators without our written permission, except for brief quotes with a link back to the Site
  • Scrape, crawl or harvest the Site in bulk, including for training data, without our permission
  • Interfere with the Site’s operation or security, or try to gain unauthorized access
  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose

7. Comments and Messages

If you post a comment or send us a message, you’re responsible for what you submit. Don’t post anything unlawful, abusive, misleading, spam or that infringes someone else’s rights. By posting a comment, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, edit for length or clarity, and remove it. We may moderate or delete any comment at our discretion.

8. Intellectual Property

The Site and its content, including text, calculators, code, graphics, logos and the Garage Calculator name, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. Third-party trademarks mentioned on the Site belong to their owners. If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, contact us with the details and we’ll review it promptly.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, CALCULATORS AND ESTIMATES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON’T WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GARAGE CALCULATOR AND ITS OWNER WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF MONEY, PROFITS, DATA OR PROPERTY, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR RELIANCE ON THE SITE, ITS ESTIMATES OR ANY THIRD-PARTY PRODUCT OR SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). SOME JURISDICTIONS DON’T ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THESE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless Garage Calculator and its owner from any claims, losses or expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from your misuse of the Site, content you submit, or your violation of these Terms.

12. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use information when you use the Site.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute relating to the Site or these Terms will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and you consent to their jurisdiction, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest will remain in effect.
